Things to do

Lossiemouth is a fantastic base and offers a wide range of activities to suit all interests within easy travelling distance.

I have provided some additional information about some of the most popular ones on the following sections, but my lists aren't exhaustive and Lossiemouth is a great base for Skiing (Cairngorm, Lecht) and there are a number of horse riding schools in the area.

There is a basket of tourist attraction leaflets in the living room, but on the following pages are a small selection of local activities with (I hope) useful website links.

David of Moray Firth Tours and Transport can create a bespoke tour for you depending on your interest, distilleries? castles? or even best mountain bike trails.  He has a very comfortable mercedes 8 seater vehicle.  www.morayfirthtours.co.uk

Elgin is only 6 miles away and there is

Lossiemouth is approximately 45 minutes from Inverness which has may attractions including a castle, a Monster (Nessie of Loch Ness), cinemas, theatre and lots of shops and places to eat. www.explore-inverness.com

Aberdeen is 90 minutes away from Lossiemouth and has a fantastic range of shops, a theatre, museums, art gallery and a busy nightlife.  www.visitabdn.com

There are a huge number of distilleries within Moray - several have excellent visitor centres (usually offering a dram as part of their tours).  Two of the most famous activities are the Malt Whisky Trail and the Speyside Whisky Trail.  A number of different companies offer tours - or it is very easy to plan your own trip.  is a good place to help you plan your journey.

There is also the Cooperage at Dufftown www.speysidecooperage.co.uk

Don't know quite how to describe these places but these all are more than just a fine  "fly cup"
