Lossiemouth is famous for its lighthouse - Covesea Lighthouse so we wanted a name to reflect this, but since the cottage is a 2 mile walk from this new visitor attraction we didnt want to have "lighthouse' or "Covesea" in the name. However a search on internet alerted us to the term "Wickie" which is the nickname given to the lighthouse keeper!
The cottage was built around 1900, the previous owners purchased it in 1991 and it was their family home until their passing 2015. We saw the cottage on 2 February 2016 and saw its huge potential, and we bought it on 13 May 2016. Work on renovations started in earnest on 14 May 2016, with all works completed by 3 September 2016. We used the cottage ourselves for a holiday on 10 September and it became available to rent from 17 September.
The cottage is quirky with a couple of extensions which we believe were added in the 1950s!
See the gallery for photos of the rooms.
